Forest Fire Erupts Near Line of Control in Mendhar, Poonch; Smoke Visible from Miles Away | KNO

Srinagar, May 15 (KNO): A forest fire broke out early Wednesday morning near the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar upazila of Poonch district, Jammu division. The rising smoke from the blaze is visible from miles away, causing concern among local residents and authorities. Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire originated in the forests across the LoC in the area held by Pakistan and has been gradually spreading towards Indian territory. The situation has prompted immediate action from both the Army and the Forest Department, who are working tirelessly to control and contain the fire. An official told KNO that efforts to combat the blaze are ongoing, with teams on the ground using various techniques to prevent the fire from causing further damage and crossing deeper into Indian forests.
